Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow and Mira Sorvino have revealed that they are among the woman who were sexually harassed by Harvey Weinstein.
Jolie told The New York Times in an email that Weinstein made unwanted advances on her in a hotel room during the publicity tour for Playing by the Heart. “I had a bad experience with Harvey Weinstein in my youth, and as a result, chose never to work with him again and warn others when they did.”
Paltrow told the Times that the producer asked her for a massage when she was 22-years-old and starring in Emma. Before production began he summoned her to his hotel room. The meeting ended with him placing his hands on her and suggesting they head to the bedroom for massages. Paltrow said she refused and later confided in Brad Pitt her boyfriend at the time. Pitt eventually confronted him and told him to never touch her again. Weinstein warned Paltrow not to tell anyone else.
Mira Sorvino said that the first incident occurred during the Toronto Film Festival in 1995. “He started massaging my shoulders, which made me very uncomfortable, and then tried to get more physical, sort of chasing me around.” The actress told the New Yorker he called her a few weeks later saying he wanted to discuss marketing ideas for “Mighty Aphrodite.” He then showed up at her apartment uninvited but left when she said her boyfriend was on his way over.
